There are no role models. There are no teachers. Knowledge has become so easy to access that it has lost both context and meaning.

I, too, yearn for the days of abject ignorance and Church-controlled education. But last week is last week, and there’s no going back.

Ah, the heady days of choir-backed castraton…

Not quite what I was leaning toward Daniel, but as always, you’ve pulled my head out of my ass and pointed to the sign on the wall that says “Don’t be an idiot.”

I appreciate this more than this medium can express.

I’m flattered to have appeared to have been so with it. And I agree with where you’re coming from. I wonder, though, if there are some confounding variables, principally the conflation of “information” with “knowledge” (not unlike the age-old conflation of “knowledge” with “wisdom, no?). Information is a commodity now (arguably always was, but not like today), and like any commodity in saturation, becomes disposable, almost extraneous.

Knowledge, on the other hand…I don’t really have a clue.

I toyed with both words when I wrote it.

I I might have chosen poorly, I am not sure yet.

Commenting has ended for this post, but I'd still love to hear from you.

Hey! I don't really post here much any more, but I have been contributing to Temna Zvezda. Why not head over there and check it out?

A Rain of Frogs was written, designed and built by Adrian Lebar, a twenty-five(!) year veteran of web design and development. He is currently managing web and mobile development teams at Canada’s largest and most beloved classifieds site, Kijiji!

He is a father, sailor, snowboarder, skier, cyclist, writer, artist, graphic designer, classically trained musician and afraid of heights.

It is typical of the West to see the surface of a problem, and then rush headlong to proselytize the masses via a marketing campaign based on a poorly conceived, barely researched solution.”
