Let there be hockey!
The National Hockey League now sports a shiney new players deal, a shiney new logo and shiney new rules.
Now all it needs is people to watch it. That won’t be a problem in Canada, but all those small market teams in the States are going to hurt large.
Maybe the new deal with players will make it possible for smaller Canadian markets like Winnipeg and Hamilton to pick up failing small-marlet US teams.
And maybe the Leafs will win the cup.
I’m sure the Bruins will do fine seeing as Boston loves hockey too. Maybe not as much as you Canadians but damn close.
To be honest, I couldn’t care less.
A lot of people feel that way Jorge.
For me, the only television I watch is hockey and the Olympics, so it’s a fairly large chunk of my mindless vegetation.
I miss it. To me it’s an enjoyable sport to watch.
You forgot to mention the Player’s Union’s new logo; http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/hnic/instigator/gfx/2003-2004/donedeal.html
I’ve missed the NHL as well, but I’m kind of torn. Yeah, the sending was way out of control and both sides where being far too greedy. What ever happened to all the lip-service about playing for nothing if it came to it? And I can;t begrudge the owners from trying to make a buck off the game, but they’re trying to “adjust” the game to attract people who don’t really love the game. The board of govenors are killing the soul of the game a little at a time.
It’s like getting a gruff but loveable dog back from a month of electro-shock therapy; it really isn’t the same any more, you kind of miss the old dog and you’ll never know when it’ll at it’s own poo (There are several petitions currently circulating to ban me from using any kind of allegory any more—please don’t sign them. Please! I mean, I can restate just about ANY situation in hockey terms. What am I supposd to do here? Huh!?!)
Commenting has ended for this post, but I'd still love to hear from you.
