High Park

I figured its been a while since I posted an image. I have a thing for super-clean sans-serif typefaces, and the ‘R’ and ‘K’ glyphs here just totally do it for me. Yes, I’m a font geek. Get over it.

Quick trivia question: Do you know what typeface is featured at so many Toronto subways stations? Hint: It’s not what you think!

Shame on you for googling it!

Ok. I didn’t google it. But my first guesses of Avenir or Frutiger were wrong. The Rs and Ks don’t match. So now, do I get to google it? Or will you just share this with us?

No! Don’t google it yet!

It’s most definitely not Avenir or Frutiger.

It’s yummy though.

Isn’t it a unique font called something like ‘TTC Font’?

Jorge Thursday August 30, 2007

I steered away from what I thought was to obvious and went for ‘Helvetica’ or a ‘Swiss’ variant.

I was wrong.

Dead wrong.

Ooh.
That sounded far too ominous.

Heather’s oh so close!

It’s called TTC Subway. How many other subways in the world have their own typeface?

And why the hell is the TTC implementing it in such a haphazard way?

Darn, here I was coming to look all smug and say ‘I know, I know’, and Heather had already got it! ;)

I like this font too… whatever it is.

Oooh. Just googled it and it is very fun. Love the lowercase f. It’s way better than Futura and it’s got more quirk than my other guesses.

As for the implementation, who knows why it’s all over the map but it would be great to see this font used throughout the TTC signage and otherwise.

Commenting has ended for this post, but I'd still love to hear from you.
