365 Days of Photos Sunday January 1, 2012, 0 comments
Last year, I challenged myself to post a photograph to my website every day. This was to aid me in two ways.
First, by posting every day, I would hopefully put a stop to the neglect I had been showing this site.
I created this site as a safety valve for creativity. At the time, I was feeling very pressured to create a community site that I was proud of, that looked good, and that had a decent following. Most importantly, I wanted to meet new people online and in person who shared similar interests to me. While I’ve long since passed that site on to others, I did meet someone who shared my interests. In fact, I eventually married her!
But after that I let the site slide. I used to post a lot here, wrote some fiction, and even a novella that appeared in serial form on this site. But since then I’ve not been producing much creative value here, and I decided that had to stop.
Second, I would be getting back to my photographic roots. There was a time, however brief, when I not only toyed with being a professional photographer, but was in fact actually paid to take pictures. It was an interesting time, when I was young, had just become a father, and hadn’t finished my graphic design degree. As soon as I could, I moved into what would eventually become a long standing career in web design and development, but that came at the expense of my love of photography. Hence the second part of the challenge.
And so, I did it. I posted 365 photographs in 365 days. The photographs are not spectacular, though I am proud of many of them. So proud that I’ve decided to keep posting here every day, whether it be a photo or something written.
Without any more mucking about, I present to you, dear reader, 2011 in photographs.
